Artist Bio

Joanne C. Hillhouse is an Antiguan and Barbudan author (seven books, various fictional genres at 2022) and features journalist (with bylines in regional and international magazines from Caribbean Beat to Essence). She freelances as a writer/content creator and copy-editor; and has written and edited on a wide variety of projects, audio visual to print to digital for clients of various sizes, individuals to multinationals, in fields as diverse as healthcare, sports, banking, the environment, and the creative arts. She also offers courses and workshops in creative writing and written communication, on commission and independently under her Jhohadli Writing Project banner. Joanne has received awards for both her creative writing and journalism. Most recently (at 2021), her independent art and culture column CREATIVE SPACE was named a finalist for the OECS Journalists Challenge. As a literary artist and arts advocate, the two-time Catapult Arts Grant recipient is co-founder of the non-profit Wadadli Pen, which is committed to nurturing and showcasing the literary arts in Antigua and Barbuda.
