I am a Haitian painter working in the tradition of academic easel painting, with a particular focus on history painting, portraiture and realism.
My work begins with a simple conviction: painting is a way of understanding human experience. I do not paint only what is visible; I seek to understand the stories, memories, beliefs and emotions that shape a person's presence and the world they inhabit. Every painting is both an act of observation and an act of inquiry.
Whether I paint an individual or a historical subject, my process remains the same. I enter into a dialogue with the subject to uncover the psychological, cultural and historical dimensions that give meaning to human life. I see painting as a form of visual research—one that preserves memory, reveals identity and connects personal experience with collective history.
Alongside my studio practice, I write and conduct research on painting, visual arts education and the role of art in the transmission of knowledge and culture. These activities are not separate from my work as a painter; they are extensions of the same pursuit.
My long-term ambition is to contribute to the renewal of history painting through works that unite artistic excellence, historical understanding and cultural transmission, while offering contemporary audiences a deeper understanding of the human experience.
